All wood used in the “Boikido Eco Friendly” line are made from certified FSC wood. This means that the wood has been monitored to come from responsibly managed plantations that meet the FSC standards of biodiversity, ecological and productive processes as well as social standards under which local communities can benefit from plantation activities without disturbing the eco system.
Water-based technology is in many aspects more environmentally friendly than solvent-based paints. Cate & Levi
The Cate & Levi Collection is handmade in Josh’s (Owner & Dad) studio in Toronto, Canada. All aspects of the production is overseen by Josh and his talented production team. Cate & Levi products are all one of a kind because each one are made from reclaimed wool whose colours and textures are individually selected. The choice of reclaimed wool reduces demand for new materials that require both water and oil for production. Not only is this process environmentally responsible, but it ensures that no two Cate & Levi products are exactly the same. Each product varies by some degree to create a toy that is as unique as the child who adopts it.

Once the old discarded wool sweaters have been selected, they are sent to an eco-cleaner in Toronto who washes them in very hot water for cleanliness and so that the material thickens a little. Then the reclaimed sweaters are sent to the studio where they are cut and filled with wool batting from sheep farm in Nova Scotia than sewn into a one of a kind sustainable, eco-friendly toy. In addition, the X's on the eyes are sewn by a Salvation Army Workshop that employs/trains/pays people with special needs.

For over a decade, ImagiPLAY has created high-quality educational toys that inspire children's imaginations and the desire to explore. With the abundance of toys available for children today, ImagiPLAY sets itself apart from the rest through its motto: "Toys with Integrity."
All of ImagiPLAY's toys are made from eco-friendly materials, with plantation-grown rubberwood being a favorite. Rubber trees produce a sap that is used to make latex products. At the end of their latex-producing years (generally 25-30 years) the trees are harvested and new ones planted. But these wonderful trees have one more gift to give us -their beautiful, splinter-free hardwood, from which ImagiPLAY makes many of its award winning, heirloom quality toys. Products for which Rubberwood is not suitable are made from wood from managed forests. ImagiPLAY's factories are placed close to the neighborhoods where its craftsmen live so that the majority of them can walk or ride their bikes to work each day, enabling its craftsmen to maintain quality relationships with their own children while they make toys for others.

Kaloo
Kaloo came to life because of a father's dream to invent different soft toys for his little boy. As a modern father, his vision was softness and comfort using innovative materials in a rainbow full of colours. His aim was to create the doudou his little boy had dreamt of. A little bear, an emotional symbol for all toddlers, was then chosen as the brand's emblematic animal. Because dreams can come true, Kaloo came to life one beautiful morning in late 1998.

Their products are all designed with optimum usage in mind, to avoid any unnecessary waste of material. Even their packaging is reusable.
Kaloo takes great care from their French designers to their production facilities located in France, India and China. Their China production is based in their own facilities of whose production is solely focused on Kaloo. As Kaloo is geared for independent specialty distribution their production runs are manageable and their long lead-times allow them to get it right.
Each product is put through rigorous quality control tests to ensure sewing resistance, torque, tension, drop, impact, fire resistance and toxicity. All Kaloo products bear the CE stamp, synonymous with compliance to European safety standards.
Their products meet or exceed both The American ASTM and European EN-71 safety standards. Kaloo is a world Brand and must conform to the highest criteria set by countries to ensure the integrity of the Kaloo Brand. This includes pull testing all their toys’ attachments and seams, toxicity and color-fastness for all dyes, even the ink on the labels.
The unique faces on all their Kaloo animals and dolls are computer embroidered for additional piece of mind. The vast majority of all Kaloo products are machine washable and machine dryable, because beauty without practicality is simply not parent friendly.
Once arranged in their round gift boxes, a Kaloo soft toy just has to wait for a baby’s arms...

Maple Landmark toys are made in Vermont from local Maple, Pine or Cherry harvested from Sustainable Managed Forests. The Natural Line is unfinished, or non nut-based oil finished and the details on the toys are laser engraved.
At Maple Landmark, they take doing business locally seriously. From the services they hire, to their banking relationship, to their material sourcing, the nearer, the better. Where they can, components come from local companies. They succeed to the point that only about 1% of their budget goes to purchase foreign-sourced items.
Although the toys are not packaged behind layers of indestructible plastic, they are still packed in a plastic bag to reduce waste. It is however reduced packaging to reduce waste. Additional efforts to reduce waste from their own manufacturing processes include offering sawdust to local farms for cattle bedding and putting out wood scraps for locals who use it for kindling.

To make an O’BON pencil, an old newspaper is flattened and cut to the right width. Then a thorough coating of water-based glue is applied as the graphite is wrapped 48 times. After it is air dried and then heat dried, the newspaper hardens without any air pockets which makes the pencil graphite nearly impossible to break. The absence of flaky, broken graphite means that O'BON pencils generally last 3 times longer than ordinary wood pencils. Saving money, time, and most importantly; the earth's natural resources.
O'BON Pencils are safe
Don't try poking out your eye on purpose to prove us wrong; O'BON products conform to the European Standards of Safety (EN-71) and has the highest standards in manufacturing and environmental considerations.

PlanToys® is proving that it is possible to maintain superior quality and safety standards in addition to following a path of environmental and social responsibility. They are committed to maintaining the highest standard of ethics while creating innovative educational toys for every developmental stage of childhood. PlanToys® are made from non-toxic, natural materials such as organic rubberwood. Their toys enable children to play, learn and become closer to nature.
PlanToys® is the first company to manufacture toys using wood from rubber trees that no longer provide latex. The trees grow to heights of 50 feet or more. The sap from the rubberwood tree is the world's primary source of natural rubber. After about 25 years, the latex yield decreases and the trees are usually cut down and burned. Instead of wasting this valuable resource, building their toys from rubberwood helps preserve the delicate balance of our eco system. There is no deforestation involved in the harvesting of rubberwood, as felled trees are replanted with new ones. Rubberwood is an eco-friendly, sustainable, high quality wood.
Their plants use state of the art solar energy and biomass (fuel from biodegradable organic material). PlanToys® are assembled using a certified E-Zero glue in place of traditional toxic wood glue. Only safe, non-toxic water-based dyes are used on all of their toys. The paper used in their packaging is recyclable which further reduces waste. PlanToys® uses soy and water-based inks on their printed materials. These inks are more readily biodegradable and can be recycled more efficiently than standard chemical ink.

PlayMais is a toy and crafting material made from natural resources and is 100% biodegradable. There are a variety of sizes in the generic craft sets and several themed sets to choose from.
Natural Resource
PlayMais is made from corn and water and dyed with natural and food colours. It does not contain toxic ingredients and is therefore safe to play with. Nevertheless, we recommend having fun playing, but not eating it.
Environment
Corn is a re-growing resource and products made from corn are biodegradable; the perfect cycle of nature. Besides, did you know that corn produces 3 times more oxygen than a forest of the same size as the corn field?
A Safe Future for our Children
By establishing natural cycles, we preserve natural resources while saving our environment for future generations. Playing with PlayMais, our kids already become part of this new spirit.

Their products are strong, rigid, heat resistant (212°F) and durable. During the manufacturing process, Wheatware™ becomes similar to plastic. Wheatware™ is not edible and could damage your teeth due to its rigidity.
